What’s better on a Saturday afternoon than a walk along the greenbelt? A walk on the greenbelt AND a stop at Telaya Wine Co. located right on the greenbelt in Garden City? Enjoy a beautiful setting, outdoor seating and amazing wine. As you walk up to the building it is warm, inviting and it doesn’t change when you walk inside. We immediately were welcomed by the smiling faces of the Wine Ambassadors as we approached the wine tasting table. The table itself is absolutely beautiful, truly a work of art. We stepped up to get ready to sample some amazing wines and Aly Balluff, Wine Ambassador took us on a journey through Telaya and their amazing wines.
History of Telaya Wine Co.
Earl & Carrie Sullivan, Owners & Winemakers have a unique story all their own. “Savor the Journey” brings together their passion for travel, hard work, family and wine. The name “Telaya” comes from a blend of their two favorite places, Tetons and la playa. All of their wines are made right on premise with grapes sourced in Idaho and Washington. You can definitely taste their passion for wine making through the wide variety of wine choices. To read more about the journey to Telaya, click here.
The Wines
Reds, Whites and a lovely 2015 Dessert Wine create their wine family. All of their wine names are Irish which is unique plus fun to learn as you sample their varieties. I love sweet wines but during our tasting, I found two white wines that could make me move away from the sweet selections. Here are my favorites:
“2014 Olta – Columbia Valley, Washington”
This wine blends together Viognier and Marsanne and creates a well-balanced flavor. The subtle creaminess really made this wine enjoyable. The perfect fit when “Drinking with Friends”.
“2016 Semillon – Boushey Vineyards”
A light wine with a nice subtle flavor. I really liked this wine and it is no wonder, butterscotch and honey crisp apples. These are two of my favorite things so it was a nice surprise when we tried this one.
“2015 Dessert Wine – Snake River Idaho”
Sweet with a nice little punch, this wine is perfect at the end of dinner, relaxing with friends and a nightcap at the end of a rough day. Definitely one to try if you enjoy a flavorful sweet wine.
