Homestead Bar & Grill is described as “Rustic-ly Homegrown by Manager, Benjamen Hart. Created in February 2016 by Zach & Anisha Kiebel as a way to fulfill their dream of owning a 
restaurant. Located in Meridian Idaho, this bar and grill stands out for a variety of reasons. 6 fun reasons to choose Homestead Bar & Grill as your first choice are just the start of what makes this place happening! No particular order to the reasons because each one contributes to what makes them so successfully unique.
Reason #1 — Environment
Love to meet people? Then come on down to Homestead Bar & Grill. This is the place to connect, have fun, relax and even make a new friend or two. Indoor and outdoor seating give you a chance to catch up with friends, talk sports, current events or life in general. According to Ben, “I’ve even heard of a marriage come out of Homestead”. Rough day at work, need a break on the weekend? Stop down and enjoy Homestead’s fun-filled, relaxing environment, it is just what you need! Most of all, you are family here! According to Ben, it is about creating an experience that keeps people coming back.
Reason #2 — Benjamen Hart
Ben’s bartending career started 10 years ago in a local dive bar. According to Ben, “it was a great way to meet new friends and make people smile”. He educated himself on spirits and beer which led to starting a mixology consulting business. Ben would go in and teach bartenders and companies how to create sell-able cocktails. Even though his passion was the bar scene, he worked a full-time job which was completely different. Ben’s job took him into Homestead where he learned they needed a bartender for their opening. He was hired, worked a month and then was promoted to Manager. Ben continues to travel to big events to learn more about mixology and cultures. His continued pursuit of education pays off at Homestead Bar and Grill where you will find a variety of unique cocktails and beers. My full interview with Ben can be seen here.
Reason #3 — Signature Drinks
A large selection of signature drinks designed by Ben and his team keep you going back for more. I was blown away by the “Mega Mary”. “Mega Mary” is a double Bloody Mary with dinner attached. Besides a variety of fresh veggies, you get a pretzel, cheeseburger slider, strip of bacon, chicken wing, 2 oz chili, and 2 oz beer. The arrival of this drink is a sight to behold. The food was great and the Bloody Mary was the best I’ve tasted. Idahoan Traveler for the bourbon lover, Boise Martini, and Coconut Margarita are just some of the other signature drink options offered. Plus, they have over 40 taps, one of which is a coconut beer. There is something for everyone! Trust me, you will want to try them all.
Reason #4 — Signature Food
Culinary expertise and creativity will send your palette into it’s happy place! Ben and the “iron chefs” brainstorm new menu items regularly. Idaho Mac is one of those brainstorms. Ben wanted to know how a loaded baked potato would taste with mac and cheese on top. According to the menu, Idaho Mac “easily said; mac, fries, bacon, onions and sour cream. All the goodness of a loaded baked potato.” Along with “mac daddies”, you will find a 1 lb burger, a fantastic Cobb salad, gyro, cod sriracha bites and so much more. One of my favorites turned out to be the jalapeno poppers. The heat on each one was different! Be sure to come hungry, portion size is unbelievable.
Reason #5 — Activities/Events
Brewery Night is a large Homestead weekly event. A different local brewery is spotlighted with eight to 16 of the brewery’s beers highlighted. Purchase a spotlighted beer, get a branded glass from the brewery. Brewery reps hand out samples and answer questions about their craft beers. Who knows, there may even be contests! If crazy promos are more your style, they have done “Paint Nite, Saved by the Bell, 30 tap takeovers, Barrel Aged Days, Rare Beer Releases, and even Live Music!” The walls even roll up for more outdoor exposure plus misters keep you cool on these hot summer days!
Reason #6 — Food Truck Catering
The Homestead Food Catering Truck is a new addition. A full menu is offered, however, you can customize or add a theme. Furthermore, Ben tells me that kitchen in the truck and restaurant are the same size! What! Homestead is all about creating the best experience possible at the restaurant or the food truck. Your next event needs to have Homestead bring the Food Truck and cater it! Plus I’m told they can bring the bar along as well! The best food, the best drinks brought right to your event! What more could you ask for?
Final Thoughts
Since my visit to Homestead Bar and Grill, I can’t stop thinking about all the fun, food, drinks that made up our evening. Ben and his team have created an environment that keeps you coming back. The service is great, you can tell everyone loves their job! It is no wonder, with totally unique food and drinks plus an environment that is fun and relaxing! Homestead truly sets themselves apart from other places in the Treasure Valley. They are creative and they make changes depending on the season. Where can you find a full service restaurant AND a matching Food Truck? What a concept! It is a great place to take family and friends to experience the best food and drink around! Who knows, you might even make new friends at the same time!
